GOING SOLO

After graduating with a G.G.S.M. (Graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama), he was determined to make a career as a professional musician and did everything from teaching piano to playing for ballet and keep fit classes as well as continuing to play with bands. However, it was soon time to take the step of going solo. Whilst performing with bands, John had progressed from backing vocals to quite often being the lead vocalist. Adding to that the number of gigs where he now did a spot on his own, it was a logical move to go solo. Residencies followed including the White Lion in Finsbury where he really expanded his repertoire and the Westmoreland Hotel in St. Johns Wood (which became the Hilton International at Regents Park). John was now self-contained, mobile and building up a following in North London.

Then came a chance meeting with Leee John (lead singer of the pop/soul band Imagination). It happened when John visited a late night restauramt to hear his friend Tim Dourado performing. Seeing that Tim needed a break, John took over and enjoyed jamming with the singer. That singer turned out to be Leee and it wasn't long before John was musical director and keyboard player for Imagination. Recording sessions, tours and TV appearances followed and John continues to work with Leee today. John has also toured with Sister Sledge and recorded with Desree.
